Went to check on the house. A couple of leaks here and there, but for the most part we're ok. LOTs of water around the house but so far it's staying out.
While i was checking upstairs, I noticed the neighbours behind us sweeping water. The guy saw me and yelled something gesturing, but I couldn't hear over the roaring downpour.
I climbed up the back fence and he was most displeased with all the water I was "responsible" for sending to them. The woman had a crack at me for distracting them and for "not doing my gutters properly" and gave me a mini-lecture about causing other people hassle. I'm now 100% sure these are the guys who were repeatedly complaining on us to the council.
I tried to explain that it wasn't my gutters and that all my roof's water now sends it all up to the street and that the water coming under the fence was surface run off - but they didn't want to hear it.
I went and visited them last week. It was a few weeks after the charged stormwater system was hooked up to the street, too see if they had any problems with stormwater since. They assured me that everything was perfect and even gave me some cookies for the kids. They had told me that their laundry was flooding previous to the charged system but assured me that everything was ok now. I guess they changed their mind.
I am sad that they are feeling angry and upset. But there isn't anything I can do for them. It's triggered an anxious reaction in me and I feel sick.
To help me feel better I took some photos (all of my place), in the hopes that if they don't believe me that its surface run-off and not my gutters; maybe you guys would.
So have a look and tell me if you think the problems that we MUTUALLY share are surface run off or from my 'dodgy' downpipes?
