Hot Summer Days is a film by 2 amazingly talented people, TONY CHAN and WING SHYA.
This is their debut as directors but, both are so talented in each of their respective careers for a minute.
Tony Chan has been writing movie scrīpts and is the man responsible for some of Hong Kong’s finest sushi restaurants (Monster Sushi, Sushi One, etc).
Wing Shya is Hong Kong’s top if not most famous photographer, responsible to all those dope photos from Wong Kar Wai’s movies, ring a bell?
So when these 2 talented human beings directed a movie together for the first time, we just knew it was going to be good.
I have to say Hot Summer Days is one good romantic comedy and I have to admit that both myself and Conroy almost shed a few tears when we watched it.
With Tony Chan and Wing Shya’s direction comes amazing actors all lined up just to be in their debut film; Daniel Wu, Vivian Hsu, Jackie Cheung (he’s amazing), and a lot more surprise cameo’s including my small role as a su Sushi Chef (if you even think of going to the restroom or you’re looking to see where you dropped your popcorn, you will definitely miss my part!)
It was a great experience working on set with all these talented people and let me tell you that the craft services was gourmet sushi everyday (and I’m not talking California rolls) From Flounder to hamachi, it was torture to be on a vegetarian diet during the filming.
It’s good to see Hong Kong coming out with a beautiful film… It’s been awhile. Check it out.
PS: Oh, if you are lucky, you can also get these books. Collect them all, total 4 colorways. Good job Diesel on this photo book by Wing Shya.
