21st April at Makumba. The American Film Institute's Project 20/20 Producer and Program Director Stacey Marbrey will open the AFI's Project 20/20 Screenings in Hong Kong.
Stacey Marbrey was on her way to becoming a doctor when she stumbled into a film production course during college. She immediately fell in love with the film medium and switchgears in the middle of her education. Before graduating from San Francisco State University with a Cinema degree, Stacey produced Sofia Coppola’s first film, LICK THE STAR and co-starred in Cauleen Smith’s critically acclaimed film DRYLONGSO. Stacey received the Student SAG Award, National Black Consortium Community Award and inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame for her debut and thesis film UNSPOKEN.
Raised in Japan and California, Stacey has paired her global upbringing with a multifaceted career, which has given her the opportunity to work on an array of films, documentaries and programs. Currently, Stacey produces’ AFI PROJECT: 20/20, an American Film Institute diplomacy initiative, designed to enhance cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration through filmmakers and their films from the U.S. and abroad.
