Upon entering the 36th Chamber of Shaolin, my Master has told me..."Son, if you want to consider yourself an actor in chinese movies you must come to Hengdian".
I have heard and obeyed.
My temple was originally constructed in 500 A.D. and rebuilt over the years starting in the mid '90's. The Budha is over 28 meters high in a vaulted hall that is over 45 meters high.
An amazing place, the Hengdian Corporation is now exceeding the billion dollar revenue mark and the city itself is host to over 3 million visitors a year. I was told during the MWIF shoot that on this day there are over forty shoots on, both features and tv programs.
Work on Hengdian commenced in the mid '90's. In contrast we in Hong Kong get Disneyland (no disrepect). Hengdian is three hours outside of Hangzhou and five from Shanghai by car.
Albums of each site visited by me on my days off shoot are posted in my photo section. Yeah, didn't want to hang around, get in the way and be a nuisance on my own shoot, so I thought I would do a foot tour of other locations, hang around other shoots and be a general nuisance.
