I had the privilege this past weekend to attend the Make-A-Wish first annual Christmas Party. The Make-A-Wish Children's Charity is a non-profit organization founded to give terminally-ill, physically-disabled, and mentally-handicapped children an opportunity to "make a wish" and have their dreams come true.
Several years back, I played a police officer on a Singapore Chinese drama called 城 市 英 雄 (City of Heroes). One of these children's wish was to be a police officer and meet me so I made a videotape to wish him well. I was really touched to see how happy he was to see me and the video I made for him. On top of it, one of the organizers for the charity mentioned that they are still using the video, and I hear the Chinese drama is airing in Hong Kong so you might have even seen it if you are there.
I was invited to hand out the door gifts generously donated by NIKE, and I had such a great time seeing the smiles on all the happy children's faces as I greeted them upon their arrival. There's always something really special about seeing a child's face light up and smile. Absolutely Priceless.
You really realize that it doesn't take much to brighten up a child's life with simply smiling and just being nice. We all had a great time at this fun-filled festive event, and I was really happy and fortunate to be involved with it.
So go out there and spread your Christmas cheer cuz it's always more meaningful when we all share!
