A gentle reminder from our partners, the HK Clean Up!
Dear Hong Kong Cleanup friends and supporters, There are TWO WEEKS left in the 2013 Challenge! Have you signed up a team yet? If yes, THANK YOU for your participation, please spread the word and share your results! If NO, it's not too late - sign up today! The Challenge runs until November 1st! In Hong Kong, every day, we throw away over 16,000 tonnes of trash – including an estimated 1,368,000 disposable plastic bottles, 1,000 tonnes of plastic bags and countless more tonnes of plastic wrapping and packaging. Our landfills are full, and we consume and throw away more than our city’s infrastructure and surrounding ecosystems can handle, jeopardizing wildlife, economies, and our own health and safety. It’s time we took responsibility for our city’s environment.
The Hong Kong Cleanup, presented by Nomura and organized by Ecovision Asia, is an opportunity for every person in Hong Kong to take a stand for a cleaner, greener future for our city.
During the 2012 Challenge, 39,098 volunteers collected and counted 105,507kg of trash, cleaning up over 637km of Hong Kong’s coastlines, hiking trails and urban areas! This year it our biggest ever, and you’re invited to be a part of it - it’s fun, and it’s free!
How to participate? There are three ways to be part of the 2013 Hong Kong Cleanup:1. TAKE THE PLEDGESimply visit the Pledge Page and enter your name, committing to reduce your trash footprint and be a part of the solution, not the problem!2.
