Sundance 2015 in Hong Kong / 2015辛丹斯電影節在香港

Our friends at the Metroplex Cinemas in Kowloon Bay are hosting the Hong Kong edition of the Sundance Film Festival again this year!  Definitely not to be missed for independent film fans!   The event runs from Sept 17 to 27th 2015.

(Hong Kong - 11 August, 2015) With last year’s success of the Sundance Film Festival - Hong Kong Selects, which brought a series of curated American independent films to the city for the first time, Sundance Institute and The Metroplex will once again present the 2015 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong from September 17 to 27, screening 11 films featured in the Festival at Park City, Utah, U.S.A.  Newly added to this year's festival will be a workshop for young filmmakers and film music composers. Tickets to all events go on sale August 13 for 2014 HK Selects VIP Members and The Metroplex VIP Metropolitans, and open to the general public on August 17 at hk.sundance.org.

 

 

11 New Independent Films Make Hong Kong Premiere** s ***with Filmmakers in Attendance*

 

The 2015 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong  will feature 11 films from the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and includes several award winners: Advantageous; Cartel Land; Dope; James White; Me and Earl and the Dying Girl; People, Places, Things; Songs My Brothers Taught Me;The End of the Tour; The Stanford Prison Experiment; The Witch and The Wolfpack. Last year, the Festival presented a wide range of films, including the Hong Kong premiere of Whiplash, which later received five Academy Award nominations, winning three.

 

Josephine Lam and Stuart Wang, Directors of The Metroplex, said, “The tremendous success of last year’s festival has proven that Hong Kong embraces the creativity of independent filmmaking. This year’s opening film is first-time feature director Crystal Moselle’s stranger-than-fiction documentary The Wolfpack, the true story of six brothers locked away from society in a Manhattan apartment who found a window to the outside through film. The Wolfpack will have its Hong Kong premiere on September 18. The New York-based director won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Documentary in the Festival and will be here in Hong Kong to present her mesmerizing debut documentary feature about six brothers who grew up in a peculiar family, and how their lives are transformed through the power of movies. Moselle will also participate in a post-screening Q&A session with audiences after the September 18 screening.

 

Other filmmakers and artists attending the** 2015 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong **to engage in post-screening Q&As with audiences include Jennifer Phang (Advantageous), Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), _Josh Mond (James White),_ Jim Strouse (People, Places, Things), Peter Golub (Director, Sundance Institute Film Music Program and Composer,Songs My Brothers Taught Me), _Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment) and Robert Eggers (The Witch_).

 

New This Year *Sundance Institute* and The Metroplex co-host Film Music Day Lab Learn More About Music Composition *for Film and Television* from Renowned Composers

 

Newly added to this year’s festival is a Film Music Day Lab, providing a full day of knowledge sharing to filmmakers, music composers and audiences interested in music for film and television. This day lab will be led by composer and Director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program Peter Golub (The Great Debaters, Frozen River) and feature presentations by composers George Clinton (Austin Powers, Wild Things) and Peter Kam(The Warlords, Helios), as well as a demonstration showcasing film music works extracted from the Sundance Institute Film Music Program. Each day lab participant will be awarded a certificate of attendance co-issued by Sundance Institute and The Metroplex. Interested parties can register online via hk.sundance.org with an admission fee of HKD 150 per person.

 

General audiences and indie-film-lovers can also join the Filmmakers Panel Discussion, taking this rare opportunity to meet a panel of our visiting filmmakers as they share their individual stories of making their films. The panel discussion will be held on 19 September, Saturday, 4pm at The Metroplex, moderated by Trevor Groth (Director of Programming, Sundance Film Festival). Interested parties can register online via hk.sundance.org with an admission fee of HKD30 per person. Panelist information and other event details will be available on the same website.

 

The box office will open on August 13 to 2014 HK Selects VIP Members and The Metroplex VIP Metropolitans for priority booking, and opens to the general public on August 17. Tickets can be purchased at The Metroplex Box Office, Internet Ticketing (hk.sundance.org), Metroplex Internet Ticketing ( www.metroplex.com.hk) and Metroplex iPhone and Android Apps Ticketing (HKD 8 handling fee will be charged for each ticket purchased online or via Apps).

 

Ticket price: Adult – HKD90; Student/Child/Senior – HKD80. Become a VIP Metropolitan to enjoy** 20% discount  for single tickets and 30% discount **for movie ticket package (includes 1 ticket for each film).

(2015年8月11日) 延續去年的空前成功,辛丹斯學院與星影匯再度合作,於2015年9月17至27日舉辦 2015** 「辛丹斯電影節:香港」 **,為香港觀眾精心挑選11部來自美國猶他州帕克城辛丹斯電影節的獨立電影。今年更新增為年輕電影製作人及作曲家而設的電影配樂工作坊。電影節門票將於8月17日起公開發售,2014 HK Selects VIP及星影匯VIP Metroplitan會員可於8月13日至16日尊享優先購票。

 

11 部獨立電影於香港首度放映* 電影製作人親臨現場與觀眾會面

 

2015** 「辛丹斯電影節:香港」 將放映11部挑選自本年度美國辛丹斯電影節的作品,部份更是獲獎電影。11部電影包括:《曼克頓影癡部落》、《2041:心靈漫遊》、《狙擊毒梟行動》、《散貨不離三兄弟》、《James White》、《初戀有病》、《戇爸大翻身》、《哥哥教我唱的歌》、《當旅程結束時》、《史丹福監獄實驗》及《不巫之地》及。去年首屆 「辛丹斯電影節–香港精選」 **放映的電影類型題材廣泛,當中《鼓動真我》於奧斯卡金像獎獲得五項提名(包括最佳電影),並奪得三個獎項。

今年的開幕電影《曼克頓影癡部落》是導演姬絲圖莫莎(Crystal Moselle)的首部紀錄長片。這部超乎想像的紀錄片講述六兄弟自小被父親困在家中,與世隔絕的真人真事。電影成為六兄弟唯一認識外界的途徑。該電影奪得美國辛丹斯電影節評委大獎(紀錄片)。《曼克頓影癡部落》將於9月18日在香港首映,屆時導演將來港出席,並於放映後與觀眾會面,細說拍攝六兄弟的難忘經歷。

** 新增活動 *「電影配樂工作坊」* 跟著名作曲家學電影配樂 **

 

今年新增設的「電影配樂工作坊」將於9月19日(星期六)舉行,特別為電影製作人、作曲家及對電影配樂有興趣的人士而設。工作坊將由辛丹斯學院音樂課程總監彼得哥納(Peter Golub)主持(《激辯風雲》、《冰河劫》),著名作曲家佐治克林頓(George Clinton)(《凸務之王》、《玩盡殺絕》)及金培達(《投名狀》、《赤道》)將出席座談會,分享電影配樂工作,同場還會展出辛丹斯音樂課程創辦以來的作品。每位參加者將獲頒由辛丹斯學院及星影匯聯合發出的出席證書。工作坊費用為每人港幣150元,有興趣人士請到hk.sundance.org登記。

 

** 「 *電影座談會」* 與電影製作人見面 **

 

獨立電影愛好者亦可藉電影座談會,與一班訪港的電影人見面,了解導演在拍攝時的光影故事。電影座談會將由辛丹斯電影節節目總監崔佛葛夫(Trevor Groth)主持,於9月19日(星期六)下午4時在星影匯舉行。費用為每人港幣30元,有興趣人士請到hk.sundance.org了解詳情及登記。

 

** 2015 ***「辛丹斯電影節:香港」* 門票將於8月17日公開發售。2014 HK Selects VIP及星影匯VIP Metropolitans會員可於8月13日起優先購買。門票於星影匯售票處、hk.sundance.org、星影匯網站( www.metroplex.com.hk),星影匯iPhone及Android 手機應用程式有售(每張透過網上或手機應用程式購票的門票將收取港幣8元作手續費)。

 

票價:成人 – $90、學生/小童/長者 – $80。成為星影匯VIP Metropolitan 會員,可享正價門票八折、套票七折(包括所有電影門票各一張)優惠。
