Clockenflap 2014 is almost here!

The first year of AnD a group of HK music and arts aficionados started the Clockenflap Festival. It was 2008 and the first two years were held at Cyberport. We were proud to have contributed a little bit to get the word out in the early years.  Now 7 years later Clockenflap has grown to a 3 day festival with over 30,000 visitors. And reigns supreme as the preeminent music/arts festival in Hong Kong. Their success has spawned a new crop of festivals to emerge after several years of nothing (Rest In Peace Rockit festival and Wild Day Out!)

Next weekend Clockenflap 2014 welcomes none other than The Flaming Lips, Travis, Tenacious D and yes, Kool and the Gang.  There's also a full line up of DJs including many of our local friends and international legends like DJ Jazzy Jeff.  Last but not least there's art, film and food!  For more info go to - http://clockenflap.com/

CLOCKENFLAP MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL 2014:

A FULL FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE AWAITS; PLUS, FINAL LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

[Hong Kong, November 7, 2014]: With only three weeks to go, Clockenflap — Hong Kong’s premier outdoor music and arts festival, held at the West Kowloon Cultural District from Friday, November 28 to Sunday, November 30 — is proud to announce its full-festival line-up, replete with more acts, a special family and kids area, a Film Tent, “Club Minky” Cabaret Tent, top international culinary offerings, merchandise must-haves, and even a W Hotel after-party schedule.

MUSIC: NEW ADDITIONS TO THE LINE UP

With word already out that Travis (UK) will be joining the 2014 line-up, today’s final artist-update announcement includes: Rudimental (UK), Nightmares on Wax (UK), Jagwar Ma (AU) and James Zabiela (UK); plus a long list of Hong Kong talents, such as: My Little Airport (HK), The Weathering (HK), Noughts and Exes (HK), Shepherds The Weak (HK) and Frankie Lam (HK). FAMILY & KIDS: :CHOCOOLATE FAMILY AREA

The :CHOCOOLATE Family Area at Clockenflap 2014 will be our biggest and best yet! With highlights including the :CHOCOOLATE giant penguin, a specially designed inflatable slide and chill-out rings, plus limited edition CHOCOOLATE x Clockenflap t-shirts available for all the family. Also, we've got Hong Kong's premier purveyors of children's entertainment and workshops, Rumple and Friends, as well as the welcome return of Oxford kid song maestro Nick Cope, to keep smiles wide throughout.

This year also sees the first time the festival will have a baby-changing and nursing-room area!

FILM: BAFTA SHORT-FILM, MOViE MOViE, DOTMOV, <1+1> SCREENINGS

At the Film Tent, Clockenflap 2014 and the British Council, in partnership with BAFTA, will be screening “Bafta Shorts 2014”. A feature-length selection of eight short live action and animated films from the EE British Academy Film Awards will entertain and enthrall all.

Also, MOViE MOViE — an on-demand service offering handpicked, top-notch international blockbusters, award-winning films, festival gems and fan favourites — will be presenting “20 Feet From Stardom”, a 2013 American documentary film by director Morgan Neville about the lives of background singers.

Thanks to our friends at Videotage, “DOTMOV”, the digital film festival from Japan, will screen its top selection of experimental shorts, merging animation with multimedia.

And lastly, a small treat to our indie fans: Clockenflap will be screening “<1+1>”, the pre-quel to what has become a Hong Kong indie classic, . This sad and sweet story is

session with screenwriter Banky Yeung after the screening.

CABARET TENT: “CLUB MINKY”

Expect endless excitement and unexpected hilarity at “Club Minky” — this year’s Cabaret Tent that promises plenty of live entertainment fun. From the BBC-featured, unmissable comedy act The Brett Domino Trio to Circus Kathmandu, Nepal’s first and only contemporary circus, from Detention, Hong Kong’s hilarious home-grown physical theatre show to 7 piece international gypsy band The Turbans and electronic musician Dan Deacon, there will be lots of fresh talent to explore at “Club Minky”.

CULINARY: FOOD & BEVERAGE ATTRACTIONS

Clockenflap 2014 will also see markedly expanded and upgraded culinary offerings as well as family-focused attractions. Food and beverage vendors this year include: Beef & Liberty, Bread and Beast, Brickhouse, Butcher’s Club, Cali-Mex, Flying Brats, Koh Thai, Monster Skewers, Mr Bing, Noodlemi, Piri Piri, Pizza Express, Roundhouse... plus many, many more!

MERCHANDISE: COLLABORATIONS WITH :CHOCOOLATE & NEWERA

Official Clockenflap 2014 merchandise will be available on site during the three-day event from November 28 to 30. This year, local fashion brand :CHOCOOLATE is hosting the very popular family area, and has created cobranded official festival T-shirts, in both adult and kids’ sizes, in black or white styles.

Additionally, the third edition of NewEra x Clockenflap official headgear merchandise — snapbacks and beanies — will be available.

WOOSTAGE LINE-UP: WOO BAR, W HOTEL

Clockenflap is thrilled to be working once more with its Official Hotel Partner, the W Hotel. The organisers are excited to announce that The WooStage at the Woo Bar will continue the Clockenflap programming after the stages at West Kowloon close each evening, offering free entry to all festival wristband wearers with an official and exclusive line up of top class entertainment: Friday, November 28 — Riva Starr (IT) / Siriusmo (DE) / and more

ART: INTERACTIVE INSTALLATIONS

With a vision to offer a full festival experience celebrating creativity and uniqueness, Clockenflap’s ever-growing arts program in 2014 will feature large-format immersive installations, to encourage audience participation and offer properly-wonky experiences. Travel through the ages in ‘The Time Machine’, spin the Kaleidoscope, have your fortune told at the Cosmic Caravan, witness the properly-wonky Vicious Circle by UK visual artist Peter William Holden and excite your eyes with HK Walls’ fresh street art. The latest creative collaborators to join the artistic fore include: Cone & Dxtr (DE), Cara To (Belgium?) and ParentsParents (HK)

MASCOT: MIMKIN

Clockenflap has always been known for its fictional creatures and fantasyland adventures, and this year, the star is Mimkin. Remember to take selfies on site with him and hashtag #clockenflap2014!
