Attention Filmmakers: BAFTA Masterclass with Kevin MacDonald

UPDATE ON THIS EVENT:

Due to the current situation in Hong Kong, it is uncertain whether the BAFTA masterclass scheduled with director Kevin Macdonald with the City University of Hong Kong would receive the student audience at which it is aimed.

As this event is the cornerstone of BAFTA’s charitable activity in Hong Kong in October, BAFTA has decided to postpone Kevin Macdonald’s visit to Hong Kong for the time being. We apologise for the inconvenience, but we look forward to re-connecting with you when BAFTA is next in Hong Kong.

Quick announcement for a seminar about directing for HK filmmakers:

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (** BAFTA *)* Masterclass – The Craft of Directing with Kevin Macdonald *hosted by the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong*  **

Kevin Macdonald is a multi-award-winning British filmmaker who has successfully turned his skillful hand to both documentary and fiction film production. Over the last two decades his avant-garde approach has gained him notoriety and made him one of the leading directors in British cinema.

His first feature, One Day in September, won an Oscar for Best Documentary in 2000. His second feature, Touching the Void released in the UK in December 2003 was awarded a BAFTA for Best British Film and it is the highest grossing British documentary in UK box office history. His powerful film, the Last King of Scotland (2006) won three BAFTA Awards and an Oscar for lead actor Forest Whitaker in his role as Idi Amin.

Macdonald's most recent theatrical release, How I Live Now, an adaptation of Meg Rosoff’s novel and starring Saoirse Ronan, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival to rave reviews. He has just completed post production on his latest feature, Black Sea, a submarine-based thriller starring Jude Law.
