" Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else.."
-She will be loved by Maroon 5-
It was our pageant's 10th Anniversary! They flew all of us back to celebrate this memorable day. I got to catch up with my seniors from 1998 onwards and juniors who are already well groomed and all grown up. They have become either good mothers, blossoming artistes or confident students. The experience has given me so much I wouldn't change a thing .

It was nostalgic going back to where it all began. We were asked to write a speech which would be played as we do our little beauty queen walk one by one and I wrote mine in English to be translated into cantonese. Here it goes..
"I remember 5 years ago, I was asked to define happiness (hang fook) and I said it’s to
‘live a life without regrets’ ( gam sang mou fui).
Since then, the pageant has given me the key to unlock doors to every dream I’ve ever dared to dream of. I’ve the chance to do something for my country, pursue higher education in my dream university and to explore the world, its people and its culture.
Tonight, as I am given the honour to return to the root of my great adventure, I would like to say thank you and a million thank you-s to the pageant and my supporters. Because of you, I’m living my dreams and I’ve finally found my happiness ".
I think tears rolled down my eyes when I recorded it for my voice over. Oh well, we shall now look forward as this is still the beginning for me. Beauty pageants are for others now. I have a long, winding and yet, exciting road ahead of me:)
It feels so good to have the first Chinese Miss World:)
