'All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players'.
-Shakespeare-
Many have asked me why I took up acting class. I think the curiousity stems from the general perception that all an actor needs to do is to act, act and act. Nevertheless, allow me to count my reasons behind my decison.
Firstly, I'm not good in acting. Therefore, I do not want to see my bad acting on the tv ever again. I can never bare to see my own acting in drama series or casting videos without blocking half of my view with my palms, only to peep through the gaps between my fingers.
Secondly, I'm doing this out of sheer boredom and maybe, also due to insecurity. I talked to my 'si hings' and 'si jies' (seniors in my company) and I realised that this industry is so much tougher than I thought it would be. I didn't even think that it was easy in the first place! 'All an actor can do is to prepare himself to the best of his ability'. Those were words of a certain actor who has been there and done that.
Thirdly, I am a nerd.I like to learn and analyse theories. I've been reading a book about acting by Richard Boleslavsky. Basically, I treated it like a law book. I admit. I am a geek. I watch Japanese anime, I read and I make notes for fun :p !
There you go! Three solid reasons for my friends but more importantly, the justifications were made for yours truly, Miss Rachel Tan.
