Hong Kong Artists supporting Japan, recording theme song for a fund-raising concert

This week has been a very busy week for me besides recording my own album and attending different events at FilmArts and meetings, the most meaningful work I have participated is joining all other local artists in Hong Kong to record a special song to support Japan.  On Thursday I arrived at RTHK in the afternoon to meet up with the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild (香港演藝人協會) members and artists to record the theme song for the three-hour charity concert titled "311 Love beyond Borders" to raise funds for victims of Japan's massive earthquake and tsunami. The theme song is called "Succumb Not to Sorrow" and is conducted by Jackie Chan. It is based on an inspirational Japanese poem by the late Miyazawa Kenji, and it will be performed in both Chinese and Japanese.  The message of the song is clear and simple. "You will not be alone. We will all be by your side."Quoted from SCMP:Eric Tsang announced the concert date to be on April 1st. "We have decided to hold a candlelight vigil on April 1 for the victims in Japan to express our voice and show support from Hong Kong residents and artists. Wish they will be fine."   Japan earthquake victims As always, kung-fu superstar Jackie Chan will be heading the charity fundraiser. He said he had to do something to help.  "Mother nature is really powerful. I'm worried about the people in Japan. Tsunami hit after the earthquake, and now we know the nuclear crisis. Again, again and again, disasters struck. I called my office in Japan and they said they were fine but there were no biscuits or bottled waters in the supermarkets. They had nothing to eat."  The event on April 1 at Victoria Park from 7-10 will include performances by stars from Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. Various television and radio stations are also involved.
