This year marks the 30th anniversary of the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF) presented by the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM). I have had the pleasure of working with the many wonderful folks that make this special event happen every year and it only gets better with time. The festival is filled with friendly and supportive filmmakers, volunteers, staff, and of course patrons.
I volunteer with CAAM in a different degree. Through out the year, I serve as a CAAMbassador. A what, you ask? It’s CAAM and ambassador combined… Well, I basically do outreach and help during times when CAAM needs it. I guess you can say it’s an unpaid job and instead of cash, the reward is promoting independent cinema and film from diverse perspectives such as Asian Pacific American works, which I’m a firm supporter of. I always look forward to this festival and I’m more than happy I get to be involved the way I am.
This year was also special for me, because the first feature I helped on screened as the centerpiece presentation. Yes, We’re Open, was produced in San Francisco and I helped out on the technical team. It was a great experience and it had a great turn out on its world premiere. The team did a great job and can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
Congratulations on 30 years SFIAAFF and here’s to many more!
