《狂戀》是積葵利維特別出心裁之作,找來劇場導演Jean-Pierre Kalfon當主角,真的請他執導一齣希臘悲劇,用16毫米把綵排過程紀錄下來,再混合35毫米拍攝的虛構劇情部份,讓兩者互相交錯互相對話。
在8月20日的映後談中,講者劉偉霖談到利維特原打算將法國古典劇作家拉辛的悲劇名作《安德洛瑪刻》全劇排演完成,最後卻因時間不足而放棄了。片中的舞台劇採排花了大約一星期,大部份演員皆由Kalfon親自挑選。
8月28日還有一場放映,是次採用的放映比例,特別讓觀眾清楚分辨以35毫米及16毫米拍攝的部分,更加體會導演的創作用意。最後機會,影痴切勿錯過。

Jacques Rivette's L'AMOUR FOU
In L'AMOUR FOU, director Jacques Rivette hired theatre director Jean-Pierre Kalfon as his protagonist, and also the real director in the stage rehearsals shown in the film. The fictional relationship of the onscreen couple, filmed in 35mm, is juxtaposed with the stage rehearsals filmed in 16mm.
In the post-screening talk on 20 Aug, critic William Lau talked about how Rivette wanted the stage actors to rehearse Racine's ANDROMAQUE throughout the production, but finally abandoned the idea due to time constraints. However, Kalfon did choose the stage actors he wanted and spent about a week rehearsing the play.
L'AMOUR FOU will be presented in its correct aspect ratios of 1.85 and 1.37 for the 35mm and 16mm film stocks respectively, as Rivette originally intended. Don't miss the final screening on 28 Aug to visit this rare gem!
