「電影‧傳說」：黑月亮、夜夜春色

《黑月亮》在路易馬盧的電影中，肯定是別樹一幟的遺珠，猶如《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》末日版，不靠特效，已拍出天馬行空的豐富想像，利用自然光製造驚奇。會說話的獨角獸、從抽屜爬出的蛇，路易馬盧以超現實手法，創作出了一則少女成長與性啟蒙的寓言。

《夜夜春色》是絕對瘋狂的尋夢之旅。為了尋找夢中情人與夢想年代，可以去到幾盡？雷克萊亞不只讓主角不停回到過去，更無厘頭跑到遠古侏羅紀。在6月12日「電影‧傳說」座談會中，劉嶔和王勛都談到雷克萊亞在《夜夜春色》著重對聲音的運用，在有聲電影讓角色喋喋不休的年代，反其道而行，利用音樂和環境噪音的對比，烘托主角追夢的心情，發揮默片美學優點，更有巴士達基頓的喜劇神髓。

Once Upon a Film: BLACK MOON and BEAUTIES OF THE NIGHT

Louis Malle's BLACK MOON is an imaginative and underrated surrealist fantasy set against the post-apocalyptic backdrop that resembles Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Full of dreamlike visions including a talking unicorn and some gleefully naked children, this film is what Louis Malle called his "mythological fairy tale taking place in the near future".

Rene Clair's delightful musical comedy romp BEAUTIES OF THE NIGHT is a whimsical fantasy through history and cardboard dreamscapes where pianist Gerard Philipe falls into the arms of such beauties as Martine Carol and Gina Lollobrigida. In the post-screening seminar on 12 June, Lau Yam and Geoffrey Wong talked about Clair's inventive use of sound where car horns, tins and kettles work in contrast with orchestral music which harks back to the good old days of silent cinema, even resembling the best comedies of Buster Keaton.
