23 February, 2012 (Hong Kong) － The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) today announced Miriam YEUNG as the ambassador of the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF); and revealed the opening film of this year: Love in the Buff, the latest work by the Hong Kong film industry's renowned director, Pang Ho-cheung, starring Miriam Yeung and Shawn Yue. The film will premiere at a star-studded Opening Gala on 21 March 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre as the official kick-off of the 36th HKIFF. The epic historical drama White Deer Plain, which was awarded a Silver Bear at the recently concluded Berlin International Film Festival, will be the closing film of the festival this year. The film will premiere at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 5 April 2012.

Today's highly anticipated announcement was made during the Press Conference at the 36th HKIFF Official Hotel, the Regal Kowloon Hotel Hong Kong. Wilfred WONG, Chairman of the HKIFFS, announced that Mr. Tom Lau, an acclaimed local illustrator and painter, designed the keyart this year. His distinctive design, "The Fiery Phoenix", symbolises the burning passion of artists and their continuing effort to fan the flames of creativity. In the same way, the HKIFF every year ignites the film passion of the public and many film fans in Hong Kong.

The Love in the Buff talents, including director Pang Ho-cheung, Shawn Yue and the 36th HKIFF ambassador, Miriam Yeung, were present at the Press Conference to introduce their new film to the media. Love in the Buff is a follow up to the popular and critically acclaimed Love in a Puff in 2010 and continues the love story between protagonists Jimmy Cheung and Cherie Yue (Shawn Yue and Miriam Yeung reprise their roles), who meet each other again while pursuing separate careers in Beijing. The film represents the current attitudes towards love and romance in Hong Kong society today.

Appointed as Festival Ambassador for the 35th HKIFF last year, Miriam Yeung will once again fulfil duties as Festival Ambassador for this year's festival. She said, "It is my great honour to be appointed as the Festival Ambassador again and to be the lead actress in the opening film this year. I am eager to inject energy into the local film industry and promote Hong Kong cinema around the world."

White Deer Plain, the closing film of the 36th HKIFF, was the only Chinese film in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it was awarded the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement in cinematography. Directed by Wang Quan'an the film is set during the early 20th Century in the twilight of the Qing Dynasty and tells of the epic struggle between two prominent families who live in the eponymous White Deer Plain in Shaanxi Province.

HKIFF will join in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of City Hall by holding three Commemorative Screenings on 26-28 March, of I Wish (2011, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Japan); Come Drink With Me (1966, King Hu, Hong Kong), starring Cheng Pei-pei who will attend the screening; and Small Change (1976, Francois Truffaut, France), sponsored by the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation.

To celebrate the creativity of local filmmakers, the 36th HKIFF will feature Peter Ho-sun Chan as the Filmmaker-in-Focus, including screenings of 12 films alongside a series of publications, exhibition and seminars, sharing his experiences in making films, from their creation, to production and marketing. He will also attend the Jockey Club Cine Academy (JCCA)'s Face to Face session on 3 April to share his insights on film, art and life with the audience. The Face to Face with Peter Ho-sun Chan is admission free and open to the public.

Keanu Reeves, one of Hollywood's most sought after leading men, will conduct the JCCA Master Class at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 18 March. Enrolments of Master Class start today. Side by Side, the latest film produced by Keanu Reeves, will also be screened during the Festival in the presence of its director, Chris Kenneally.

HKIFFS is honoured to announce that the internationally acclaimed and legendary actress Ms. Charlotte Rampling will attend the opening of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF). Ms. Rampling is attending the HKIFF in her capacity as President of the Paris Cinema International Film Festival. As part of its 10th Anniversary celebration, Paris Cinema International Film Festival will present a Focus on Hong Kong cinema, in collaboration with the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society. Ms. Rampling will announce details of the Hong Kong Focus during her visit to Hong Kong.Ms. Rampling will also attend the Hong Kong premier screening of The Look with its director Angela Maccarone. Shown at the Cannes Film Festival, this biographical study of Charlotte Rampling is told through her own conversations with artist friends and collaborators. Intercut with clips from some of Rampling's most famous films, this "self-portrait through others" is a revealing look at one of the cinema's most iconic screen stars.

Charlotte Rampling is also featured in another HKIFF film, The Mill & the Cross, which will be screened in "Poland in Close-Up" section during the Festival. Taking Pieter Bruegel's 16th century painting, The Way to Calvary as his foundation, director Lech Majewski has created a multilayered world that vividly brings life to the characters and explores Bruegel's masterpiece. Apart from The Mill & the Cross, "Poland in Close-Up" features seven new films, including one of the nominees of Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Agnieszka Holland's In Darkness.

The Awards Gala of the 36th HKIFF will feature 10+10 from Taiwan, a 100-minute feature film consisting of 20 shorts by 20 veteran and young directors. Commissioned by the Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival, each filmmaker was given five minutes and total freedom to express cinematically how they feel about the uniqueness of Taiwan.Commissioned by Youku, the HKIFF has produced and will premiere four short films under the collective title of Beautiful 2012. Some of Asia's best filmmakers have contributed episodes to this new work - Gu Changwei (China), Tsai Ming-Liang (Taiwan), Kim Tae-Yong (South Korea) and Hong Kong's own Ann Hui.

The 36th HKIFF runs from 21 March to 5 April, 2011. 283 films from over 50 countries will be screened at 11 major cultural venues in Hong Kong, of which 53 are world, international or Asian premieres.A full list of film titles can be viewed online at www.hkiff.org.hk. 會 上 ， 開 幕 電 影 《 春 嬌 與 志 明 》 總 動 員 出 席 向 傳 媒 介 紹 該 片 ， 包 括 ： 彭 浩 翔 導 演 、 余 文 樂 及 今 屆 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 大 使 楊 千 嬅 。 承 接 2010年 《 志 明 與 春 嬌 》 的 成 功 ， 彭 浩 翔 導 演 決 定 拍 攝 續 集 去 延 續 這 對 深 入 民 心 、 甚 具 香 港 代 表 性 的 港 男 港 女 愛 情 故 事 ： 電 影 講 述 春 嬌 (楊 千 嬅 )和 志 明 (余 文 樂 )各 自 到 內 地 工 作 ， 在 北 京 重 遇 後 的 感 情 故 事 。 雖 然 場 景 在 北 京 ， 但 絲 毫 沒 失 去 香 港 的 地 道 感 ， 令 任 何 地 方 的 觀 眾 都 看 得 投 入 。

本 屆 電 影 節 閉 幕 電 影 《 白 鹿 原 》 是 今 年 唯 一 入 圍 柏 林 角 逐 金 熊 獎 的 華 語 影 片 ， 結 果 榮 獲 最 佳 攝 影 銀 熊 獎 。 以 帝 制 結 束 的 歷 史 時 刻 作 背 景 ， 刻 劃 關 中 平 原 上 有 仁 義 之 稱 的 白 鹿 村 ， 描 寫 兩 大 家 族 的 三 代 恩 怨 。 導 演 王 全 安 把 厚 重 的 歷 史 、 錯 綜 複 雜 的 人 物 、 赤 裸 的 愛 慾 ， 層 次 分 明 的 拍 攝 出 來 。

而 為 慶 祝 香 港 大 會 堂 50周 年 ， 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 於 3月 26-28日 假 香 港 大 會 堂 放 映 三 部 電 影 並 作 講 解 ， 公 眾 可 免 費 入 場 ， 同 時 安 排 學 校 及 教 育 團 體 組 團 出 席 欣 賞 。 三 片 包 括 ： 由 是 枝 裕 和 導 演 的 《 奇 蹟 》 、 胡 金 銓 導 演 、 鄭 佩 佩 主 演 的 《 大 醉 俠 》 及 由 「 成 龍 慈 善 基 金 」 贊 助 放 映 、 杜 魯 福 導 演 的 名 作 《 零 用 錢 》 。

今 年 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 焦 點 影 人 是 陳 可 辛 。 大 會 將 放 映 陳 可 辛 導 演 不 同 年 代 的 12部 佳 作 ， 並 會 有 一 連 串 的 出 版 、 展 覽 及 講 座 活 動 ， 讓 影 迷 重 温 其 多 姿 多 采 的 電 影 創 作 生 涯 。 他 更 會 於 4月 3日 出 席 「 賽 馬 會 電 影 學 堂 」 的 香 港 名 家 講 座 ， 與 觀 眾 分 享 心 得 。

此 外 ， 著 名 影 星 奇 洛 李 維 斯 (Keanu Reeves)將 會 擔 任 於 2012年 3月 18日 假 香 港 會 議 展 覽 中 心 舉 行 的 「 賽 馬 會 電 影 學 堂 」 國 際 大 師 班 嘉 賓 ， 並 於 今 天 開 始 接 受 報 名 。 奇 洛 李 維 斯 監 製 之 新 片 《 追 蹤 電 影 未 來 》 (Side By Side )亦 將 於 電 影 節 期 間 上 映 。

大 會 亦 宣 布 ， 國 際 名 女 星 夏 綠 蒂 藍 萍 (Charlotte Rampling)將 應 邀 出 席 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 開 幕 禮 ， 並 會 出 席 以 她 為 主 角 的 電 影 《 夏 綠 蒂 藍 萍 自 畫 像 》 (The Look ) 的 首 映 。 片 中 透 過 藍 萍 自 白 ， 她 跟 藝 術 家 好 友 把 臂 談 心 的 對 話 ， 加 上 藍 萍 多 部 代 表 作 的 片 段 ， 讓 觀 眾 可 以 深 入 了 解 這 位 魅 力 迫 人 的 巨 星 。

夏 綠 蒂 藍 萍 將 以 巴 黎 國 際 電 影 節 主 席 的 身 份 出 席 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 。 作 為 其 成 立 十 週 年 慶 祝 活 動 的 一 部 分 ， 巴 黎 國 際 電 影 節 將 與 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 協 會 合 作 ， 策 劃 一 個 香 港 電 影 的 焦 點 專 題 。 夏 綠 蒂 藍 萍 將 於 她 訪 港 期 間 宣 佈 有 關 合 作 細 節 。

夏 綠 蒂 藍 萍 參 演 的 另 一 套 電 影 《 磨 坊 與 十 字 架 》 (The Mill and the Cross ) ， 亦 會 在 香 港 國 際 電 影 節 "特 寫 波 蘭 "系 列 中 展 出 。 該 片 將 Pieter Bruegel 的 名 畫 《 受 難 之 路 》 內 的 人 物 在 我 們 眼 前 栩 栩 如 生 的 活 過 來 ， 呈 現 神 乎 其 技 的 視 覺 效 果 。 包 括 《 磨 坊 與 十 字 架 》 在 內 ， 特 寫 波 蘭 系 列 電 影 共 選 映 8部 最 新 的 波 蘭 電 影 ， 包 括 奧 斯 卡 最 佳 外 語 片 入 圍 5強 之 一 的 《 無 光 歲 月 》 。

此 外 ， 今 年 電 影 節 頒 獎 禮 之 夜 將 首 映 由 金 馬 影 展 發 起 之 電 影 聯 合 創 作 計 劃 成 果 《 10+10》 ， 匯 聚 10位 台 灣 新 晉 及 10位 成 名 的 電 影 導 演 ， 每 人 各 拍 一 部 五 分 鐘 短 片 ， 以 「 台 灣 特 有 」 為 中 心 題 旨 ， 合 成 一 部 片 長 一 百 分 鐘 的 電 影 。

異 曲 同 工 的 是 另 一 套 優 酷 出 品 、 電 影 節 監 製 的 四 重 奏 電 影 《 美 好 2012》 ， 以 四 位 亞 洲 名 導 演 從 不 同 角 度 拍 出 大 家 對 美 的 定 義 。 導 演 包 括 來 自 中 國 的 顧 長 衛 、 台 灣 的 蔡 明 亮 、 韓 國 的 金 泰 勇 及 香 港 的 許 鞍 華 。

本 屆 電 影 節 將 於 今 年 3月 21日 至 4月 5日 期 間 舉 行 ， 網 羅 來 自 50個 國 家 283部 電 影 ， 於 香 港 11個 主 要 場 地 放 映 ， 當 中 53部 電 影 乃 世 界 、 國 際 或 亞 洲 首 映 。
