The 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival Announces Collaboration with Paris Cinema International Film Festival Over 80 Hong Kong Films to be Screened Gala Premiere - The Look with Charlotte Ramp

21 March, 2012－ The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) today announced its collaboration with Paris Cinema International Film Festival (PCIFF) which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in July 2012. The PCIFF this year will present a Focus on Hong Kong cinema to showcase the dynamic creativity of its filmmakers. Ms. Charlotte Rampling, the legendary actress who is also President of PCIFF, and Mr. Wilfred WONG Ying-wai, SBS, JP, Chairman of HKIFFS, together with Mr. LI Cheuk-to, Artistic Director of HKIFF attended the Press Conference to announce the details of the collaboration. 

PCIFF continues to showcase quality films from around the world. The Festival's Focus on Hong Kong cinema will screen over 80 selected titles from the 1950s to the present day and is designed to show the depth and breadth of the Hong Kong film industry and film culture. This ground-breaking programme will be presented in conjunction with the HKIFFS. 

"HKIFFS would like to express our thanks to PCIFF for presenting a Focus on Hong Kong cinema as part of its 10th Anniversary celebration," said Mr. Wilfred Wong, Chairman of HKIFFS, "We are honoured to welcome the internationally acclaimed star, Ms.Charlotte Rampling to Hong Kong both in her capacity as President of the PCIFF, and to attend the gala premiere of the latest film about her career, The Look." Mr. Wong also added "We are most grateful also to the Hong Kong Film Development Council for their support and recognition of the value of promoting Hong Kong cinema with partners like PCIFF." 

Ms. Rampling said, "Hong Kong has been chosen for its renowned position in Asian cinema and the appeal of HK Films in France. For the very first time, Paris Cinema IFF, for its 10th anniversary, will introduce a major panorama of some 80 Hong Kong films in Paris in July to celebrate the long tradition and amazing creativity and vitality of Hong Kong Cinema, its artists and its dynamic industry. A Tribute to a Major Movie Capital from another!" 

The press conference was also attended by Angelina Maccarone, director of The Look, a documentary about Charlotte Rampling's life, and it is a revealing look at one of the cinema's legendary stars. The film, an Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2011, will premiere at the HKCEC Theatre 2 on March 22 at 7:15 pm. Charlotte Rampling and Angelina Maccarone will attend the screening. 

About Charlotte Rampling 

Charlotte Rampling was born in England. She graduated from Jeanne d'Arc Acadé mie pour Jeunes Filles, and was a model at 17. Rampling made her debut in Richard Lester's comedy, The Knack… and How to Get It, in 1965. She has worked with some of the cinema's greatest filmmakers including Luchino Visconti, John Boorman, Nagisa Oshima, Sidney Lumet, Woody Allen, and more recently Francois Ozon and Lars Von Trier. She has starred in various controversial films, including The Night Porter (1974); Max, Mon Amour (1986), and the critically acclaimed Swimming Pool (2003).
