殘菊物語、元祿忠臣藏

《殘菊物語》自然醇厚，渾然天成，被推許為溝口健二早期名作，堪稱日本戰前電影經典，透過男主角菊之助從技藝平平的演員，成長為真正藝術家，以及女主角阿德自我犧牲來輔助他的過程，反映明治維新之後，日本人在急劇社會變遷中所面對的難題及困惑。溝口以他的長鏡頭與構圖風格，拍出歌舞伎的至美境界。

《元祿忠臣藏》原是真人真事歌舞伎劇，古來改編無數，溝口版本呈現武士道精髓，公認是最完美的一部。溝口拍武士片藝高膽大，暗場處理廝殺，又著力描寫主角大石的內心掙扎，結尾更通過女性，質問到武士道的初心。全片沉鬱有致，吸引力絕不亞於溝口的女性電影。前篇、後篇同場放映，設中場休息10分鐘。
