蘇俄叱吒風雲的名字:普多夫金、庫勒雪夫、巴湼……論對後世的影響,普京都要行埋一邊。兩位蒙太奇理論先驅,普多夫金在《聖彼得堡之末日》以抑揚頓挫的節奏寫小人物的沉淪與覺醒,庫勒雪夫在《老美紅區奇遇記》則將美國人在新國度的奇遇虛實轉換,令人大開眼界。被利維特譽為「除愛森斯坦外蘇聯最好的導演」的巴湼,其《傻妹大鬧莫斯科》的灰姑娘故事散發社會主義新生活氣息,連高達也說「只有鐵石心腸的人才會不喜歡他的電影。」

An early generation of Soviet filmmakers cast an influence in history no less than the Russian revolutionaries. Kuleshov, who directed THE EXTRAORDINARY ADVETURES OF MR. WEST, theorized and used montage so brilliantly that his name is still applied to a technique of evocative juxtaposition. He was joined by Pudovkin, who further developed influential theories of montage in films like THE END OF ST. PETERSBURG. Barnet, whom Jacques Rivette called “the best Soviet director after Eisenstein”, has been hailed as “the precursor of French Poetic Realism” with his masterpieces such as THE HOUSE ON TRUBNAYA.
