利維特的神秘國度:修女、巴黎是我們的
說好的利維特作品每月回顧,就讓我們從頭開始。六、七月先推出他的首兩部長片──《巴黎是我們的》與《修女》。六月先放映《修女》,改編狄德羅小說(三年前那部《修辱》就是改編同一原著),大膽諷刺修道院,一早敲定由安娜卡蓮娜主演。但題材敏感,被指離經叛道,劇本改了三年才准開拍,拍好後又遭禁映。法國文化界聯署聲援利維特,高達更奮筆疾書批評文化部長,後獲准於康城影展曝光,再擾攘一年才終可公映,意外地成為利維特最叫座的作品。
而早在1957年,利維特已開拍《巴黎是我們的》,是最早動手拍長片的法國新浪潮導演,但他慢工出細貨,成片反在他人之後。不過《電影筆記》戰友都紛紛義助,高達、查布洛、積葵丹美,和他本人都粉墨登場,見證新浪潮的美好歲月。

Jacques Rivette: THE NUN and PARIS BELONGS TO US
Cine Fan presents the first two features of Jacques Rivette in our Jun/Jul edition. Adapted from Denis Diderot's novel, THE NUN stars Anna Karina as a free-spirited young woman who is forced by her parents to enter a convent. It is an absorbing and faithful adaptation and a bitter attack on religious abuses, which caused the film to be banned upon release. In a scathing open letter to the Minister of Culture, Jean-Luc Godard accused him of being blind and cowardly. THE NUN was finally released a year later, where it enjoyed tremendous commercial success.
Rivette began shooting his debut feature PARIS BELONGS TO US in 1957, well before the French New Wave was officially kicked off by Truffaut, Godard and Chabrol. These comrades helped Rivette in the production of the film and even made cameo appearances. American critic Jonathan Rosenbaum, comparing the film with the debut feature of other New Wave directors, calls this film "the most intellectually and philosophically mature, and one of the most beautiful".
