?【#夏日國際電影節】上周末影迷大興奮!皆因伊朗大師 #麥馬巴夫 攜同兩套佳作訪港。本地影評首次有機會欣賞到曾在伊朗被禁26年的《#撒恩達之夜》,透過人類學家及其女兒的故事,一睹伊斯蘭革命前後的社會變遷。而在《#電影萬萬歲》,觀眾則可藉一場場試鏡,重溫大師真假虛實的電影實驗。
麥馬巴夫出席8月19日的大師班時談到《撒恩達之夜》被伊朗當局剪去的37分鐘,涉及場面包括有人襲擊戲院、塗黑街上的女性畫像、警察闖入民居逮捕青年,以及一些批評政府的對白等。政府以禁制手段令人民噤聲,他則以電影作武器,來喚醒逃避和遺忘的人群,為國家帶來文化改變,對未來懷抱希望。8月28日一場尚有映後談,由影評人劉嶔主講。

? [#SummerIFF17] Last weekend was an exciting time for local fans, as world-renowned Iranian director #MohsenMakhmalbaf visited Hong Kong and met the audience. Lucky fans had a chance to see the long-censored film THE NIGHTS OF ZAYANDEH-ROOD, his 1990 critique of Iranian society through the struggles of an anthropologist and his daughter, as well as his masterpiece SALAAM CINEMA, a bold experiment of film’s notions on truth and reality through an audition.
In the Master Class held on 19 Aug, Makhmalbaf described the scenes in the 37 minutes of footage being cut by the Iranian authority, including an attack on the movie house; smearing of female images; police breaking into dwellings and arresting young people. While politicians used censorship for controlling people, the director used the camera as his tool to challenge the government and call for people’s positive change. He reminded us that the powers that be couldn’t last forever, and we should have hope for the future.
