Toda was drawn to the story of a gay couple who founded Japan’s only LGBTQ law firm. In her activist documentary feature OF LOVE & LAW, which just won the HKIFF Firebird Award (Documentary Section), Toda follows the partners as they battle for justice in a broad range of human-rights cases.
