依瑪勞貝盧 是六、七十年代菲律賓新浪潮電影的中流砥柱，以尖刻批判社會歪風享譽國際影壇。一代名導離世廿多年，HKIFF42向他致敬，選映三部全新修復的重要作品：巔峰作《神蹟》將女子獲聖母顯靈的寓言，提昇為隱喻集體意識的神話，獲CNN選為史上亞太區最佳電影之一；首部劇情長片《飛上枝頭》藉脫衣舞孃與的士司機被成名所累的故事，譏諷道德敗壞；《你全屬我》則以清新雋永風格刻劃三角關係的愛恨糾纏。與貝盧長期合作的編劇列卡度李更將來港出席映後談，與觀眾分享劇本的創作過程。

One of the masters who brought the new Filipino cinema to international attention in the 1970s, #IshmaelBernal, who passed away in 1996, was recognized for his films that serve as social commentaries and bold reflections of life’s realities. Three of his restored classics will be presented at HKIFF42: MIRACLE (HIMALA), selected by CNN as one of the Best Films of All Time in the Asia Pacific, depicts the religious-political sensibilities of the Filipinos; AT THE TOP (PAGDATING SA DULO) is his striking debut feature, piercingly gazing at the vanity of fame and fortune; YOU ARE MINE (IKAW AY AKIN) is a witty character analysis in a ménage-a-trois. His longtime screenwriter, Ricardo Lee, will meet the audience to share his insights.
