HKIFF41 showcases a number of award-winning Romanian films from renowned directors. Palme d’Or winner #CristianMungiu returns with #GRADUATION, a morality tale about a father doing the best he can for the future of his girl after she was assaulted. #CristiPuiu brings us #SIERANEVADA, a masterfully-controlled portrait of chaos in a Romanian family. Marital tensions and sibling rivalry are revealed over a Bunueluesque dinner table.

Other Romanian films include: #RaduJude’s #SCARREDHEARTS, which garnered the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Festival; Winner of the Silver Bear Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution, #CălinPeterNETZER’s Ana, mon amour; Fixeur, directed by #AdrianSitaru, who won the Best Director at the Locarno Film Festival; and #PaulNegoescu's Two lottery tickets, a satirical comedy about three men going on an epic search to retrieve their winning lottery ticket from thieves.
