楊德昌 在《獨立時代》思考儒者的困惑，對台灣社會提出犀利批判。金馬影后陳湘琪初次擔綱飾演琪琪，與倪淑君飾演的Molly，置身錯綜複雜的人際關係網絡，於短短兩天半內，在離奇的遭遇中愛恨逆轉、福禍相生。楊導首次利用喜劇方式，駕馭劇場表演風格，以萬花筒結構和精準的鏡頭調度，展現年輕一代的慾望與躊躇、貪婪與恐懼。15/9 的電影課程由影評人藍天雲主講，探討楊德昌如何思考在中西新舊的夾縫中自處之道。

Yang's brilliantly achieved comedy follows a selection of modern urban types through two fraught days and nights rife with misunderstandings and cross-purposes. Molly (Ni Shu-Jun), a bourgeois PR executive, and her devoted personal assistant (Chen Shiang-chyi) are caught in a complex social circle in modern Taipei, torn between me-generation aspirations and age-old Chinese ideas of social conformity. Cheerfully critical of the young yuppies who are volatile and self-absorbed, #AConfucianConfusion is as likely to confuse as to enlighten. On its screening on 15 Sep, HKIFF publications are available for sales at the HK Science Museum from 7pm - 11pm.
