面對高牆，堅盧治永遠站在雞蛋的一方。出獄地盤佬在罔顧工業安全的工地謀生備受剝削，見工友被炒被捕甚至身受重傷，決意大報復；失業中年漢為求寶貝女領聖餐穿得體面，頂硬上兼職賺錢卻連番受挫甚至遭大耳窿恐嚇，最後逼虎跳牆。兩個窮人「違法達義」看似違背道德、法理難容，盧治卻體恤低下階層在窘境下為尊嚴而奮鬥，對社會不公義悲憤之餘嬉笑怒罵，結局大快人心！

在9月9 日的座談會，影評人林錦波及登徒談到盧治祟尚自然主義的簡潔風格，着重故事重心，讓演員投入角色自由發揮，準確捕捉角色的真情實感。鏡頭下的弱勢人物有血有肉，充滿缺點和陋習，他並不歌頌卻予以尊重，以電影為他們發聲。

With “an unhealthy wind blowing”, two Ken Loach characters are "achieving justice by violating the law": a young construction worker launches a strike back when he finds his workers sacked and injured in the building site; a father fights against all odds to raise money to buy his daughter a dress for her first communion. Unlawful as they seem, Loach sides with them in their fight against social injustice, with warmth and humor.

In the seminar held on 9 Sep, critics Lam Kam-po and Thomas Shin stated that Loach, with his no-frills visual style and lean, sequential narratives, is adept in capturing the spontaneous performances of actors and the reality of people’s lives. The working-class people under his camera are not perfect, and may be full of flaws; yet he gives them the respect they deserve, and a voice against the bureaucracy in his films.
