溝口健二60年祭:阿遊小姐、元祿忠臣藏

溝口健二改編谷崎潤一郎短篇,在《阿遊小姐》夥拍攝影大師宮川一夫,出神入化的鏡頭調度,把三角關係舞得火花四濺,人物前後左右的設置萬變,誘惑與禁戀、真情與假意在長鏡頭下匯串成剪不斷理還亂。溝口給原著沒有面目的妹妹阿靜添加血肉,她為尊敬的姐姐阿遊犧牲,感情複雜糾結是溝口作品中所罕見。

《元祿忠臣藏》造就了最純美的溝口作品,華美搭建的日本古建築,結合推軌長鏡,營造繃緊張力,畫面亦美不勝收,鄭樹森教授曾指出這是世界影史罕見的結合,既展示溝口的技藝,亦呈現了日本建築特色,構成獨一無二的空間感及鏡頭運動。前篇、後篇同場放映,設中場休息10分鐘。

Mizoguchi Kenji, 60th Anniversary: MISS OYU and THE LOYAL 47 RONIN

Adapted from "The Reed Cutter" by Junichiro Tanizaki, Mizoguchi's MISS OYU is a poignant and contemplative tale of two sisters and their ill-fated relationship with the same man. Tanaka Kinuyo is the eponymous widow who falls for the man introduced as a prospective partner for her younger sister. This film marks the first collaboration between Mizoguchi and cinematographer Miyagawa Kazuo, whose elegant long takes would come to define the director's later work.

In THE LOYAL 47 RONIN, Mizoguchi manages to pull off one of the greatest samurai films of all time. He exalts classical Japanese warriors as self-sacrificing men of unimpeachable principle, and yet he emphasizes their fidelity to their conscience and their spirit of resistance. With the exquisite mise-en-scene and careful avoidance of close-ups within Mizoguchi's meticulously accurate period sets, the film radically abstracts the imperturbable warriors as figures held at bay by the films rigorous long shots. There will be a 10-minute intermission between Parts I and II.
