© Hong Kong Film ArchiveThe Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) has entered into an unprecedented collaboration with Paris Cinema International Film Festival (PCIFF) for a focus on Hong Kong cinema at the upcoming PCIFF from 29 June to 10 July, 2012. The full programme was announced at a PCIFF press conference in Paris on 7 June. Over 80 films from the post-war era to the present will be shown, the first time such an extensive selection of Hong Kong films has been shown in Paris. Supported by Create Hong Kong, Film Development Fund and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels, the programme will celebrate the 10th anniversary of PCIFF and the 15th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. (2000) by WONG Kar Wai 

© 2000 Block 2 Pictures Inc.The eclectic programme will introduce audiences to little-seen gems from the '50s and '60s, from  LEE Tit's masterpiece   (1955) to Patrick LUNG Kong's sensational social realist drama   (1969); classics and rare works by New Wave helmers including  Allen FONG,  Ann HUI, Patrick TAM,  TSUI Hark and  YIM Ho; more recent and acclaimed titles by established names such as  Fruit CHAN,  Peter CHAN,  Stanley KWAN and WONG Kar Wai; and a collection of short films by up and coming talents selected by the Fresh Wave - International Short Film Festival. (2001) by Toe YUEN 

© Pretty PicturesThe event will kick off with a tribute to  Johnnie TO who will travel to Paris with renowned thesp  LAU Ching-wan especially for the event, an all-night show on 29 June of four works by the versatile auteur, including   (1995),  (1997),   (1998), and   (2011). The festivity will continue with a  Johnnie TO master class on 1 July, a one-on-one with world class action choreographer and director  YUEN Wo Ping on 4 July, and a roundtable on the Hong Kong New Wave with one of its pioneers,  Allen FONGalso on 4 July. Two time winner of the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress, Kara HUI, and acclaimed young filmmaker  Heiward MAK will join their industry colleagues for the high-profile celebration party, "Hong Kong Night at Paris Cinema" on 3 July.
