成瀨巳喜男 女性‧命運‧自主：晚菊、飯

成瀨巳喜男電影放映加講座，第三課重溫成瀨第四次改編林芙美子作品的《晚菊》，講四個退休藝伎的故事，體貼女人心事，不乏幽默筆觸。演配角從來搶鏡的杉村春子少有地擔正，演繹外剛內柔的倉橋，舉手投足為影片帶來獨特韻律。課堂講題為「風塵女子的浮世悲歌」，講者鄭傳鍏。

第四課重溫原節子與上原謙主演的《飯》，這是成瀨著名的「夫婦三部曲」之一，原著是林芙美子未完成的同名遺作，成瀨在本片對步入中年倦態期的夫婦感情有纖細入微的描寫，也是對女性在傳統枷鎖下竭力自主的反映。課堂講題為「婚姻囚徒自主之路」，講者李焯桃。

Naruse Mikio - Women, Destiny, Independence: LATE CHRYSANTHEMUMS and REPAST

The 3rd film in our Naruse Mikio Film Course is LATE CHRYSANTHEMUMS. Weaving together 3 short stories by Hayashi Fumiko, the film follows 3 former geishas as they grapple with the realities of their current lives. Naruse captures the insignificant incidents and conversations of everyday life by using a direct, no-nonsense style to accentuate the casual realism of the depressing stories. The lecture will be conducted in Cantonese by Cheng Chuen-wai.

Starring the late Hara Setsuko, REPAST is the 4th film in our Naruse Mikio Film Course. As Naruse's first adaptation of a Hayashi Fumiko novel, REPAST tells the story of a loving wife whose 5-year marriage seems to be threatened by the visit of her husband's young cousin. This deceptively simply examination of a troubled marriage is told with the penetrating insight and elegant images that made Naruse such an extraordinary artist. The lecture will be conducted in Cantonese by Li Cheuk-to.
