Call for Entries starts on July 15, 2013

The Hong KongInternational Film Festival (HKIFF) announced today that its call forentriesfor the38th editionwill start on 15 July, 2013. Organised by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS), the 38 th HKIFF will beheld from24Marchto7 April2014.

 

HKIFF is Asia’s oldest international film festival and a major platform for world cinema.  Its programme comprises features, documentaries, shorts and animations divided into 6 sections. FromJuly 15 to 31 December, 2013, the38th HKIFF will acceptsubmissions for its 6 sections:

 

1.          Young Cinema Competition- open to filmmakers with their first, second or third features with cash prizes awarded by jury

2.          Documentary Competition- open to documentaries running 60 minutes or longer with cash prizes awarded by jury

3.          Short Film Competition-  Open to all films under 15 minutes duration with cash prizes awarded by jury

4.          Global Vision-  new works including special programmes and tributes

5.          Indie Power -new independent and avant-garde works

6.          Reality Bites- new documentaries

 

In 2013, the37 th HKIFF achieved a record withmore than2,000 film submissions. "The continued growth of film submissions to the HKIFF shows our continued and growing prominence and recognition on the international film festival circuit,” saidHKIFFS Executive Director Roger GARCIA.
