I spent the last two weeks in Hong Kong for several reasons. The main one was to cover FILMART for a new French magazine ( Asie Croissance), a WebTv program ( Asia Fevers) and Twitch.
Arrival in HK. March 20th, 2011I also went to some other
Entertainment Expo events like
HKIFF (opening ceremony, screenings like
Johnnie To’s “
Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” – one of the opening movies - ,
Shunji Iwai’s “
Vampire”, “
Little Ghostly Adventures Of The Tofu Boy”,
the
Asian Film Awards,
HAF, etc.
Before the Asian Film Awards. March 21st, 2011.
The first week was quite intense
because I was also working at the same time as a production assistant
and interview coordinator for a French documentary about
Quentin
Tarantino’s Asian influences, directed by
Jac Carvalhoand
Johan
Chiaramonte. Among the interviewees, we were able to
get people like
Roger Garcia, David Bordwell, Mike Leeder, Clement
Cheng, Bey Logan, Gordon Liu and even
Ringo Lam.
Ringo Lam. March 25th, 2011.
The last night
before I left Hong Kong I had the chance to attend the
24 Herbs new
album release party (for their 2nd album “
Bring it On”, out March 31st,
2011).
24 Herbs party at Hyde (Central)
The band gave us a great live performance. Luckily, I got into the VIP square and had a nice spot from which to shoot this private concert. This was not the case of my journalist friend Thomas Makzymovitz, who couldn’t film properly because of one hell of an unsympathetic security guy (stupid robot). It’s too bad because Thomas had a very good HD cam (I only had a mini-DV cam). We could have done some very nice editing with two different angles.Anyway, I finally shot the concert with my photo camera in my left hand and video camera in my right hand. That’s why the following photos look like this...
Coming soon: My 24 Herbs live video and more stuff about my Hong Kong 2011 trip…
