after my biking trip of nearly falling into the abyss (the subject of an upcoming blog, don't worry), I went to SZ for some food, shopping and $6/hr massage. (the price went up!) :-P
Of course I had my camera handy for some photos...
the view across the border from Lok Ma Zhou station. This time I took a bus directly here. thats the bridge across on the left side. One level is to go from HK to China, the other is to come back. (i've never actually come back across here before).
I went to Dong Men to eat and do a bit of shopping. I saw something interesting:
its an intercom call box and says in English "Any Trouble Call the Police", "Video Annunciator"... hypothetically there's a police officer at the other end? It doesn't have a camera or TV screen visible, so i'm not sure why its called a 'video annunciator' though... and given the fact that there was junk piled up in front of it, it may not actually work. (almost definitely doesn't).
(i can just imagine the poor guy who's just been pick pocketed and then shived in the gut crawling over to this thing leaving a bloody trail behind him, eventually climbing over all the junk piled in front and pushing that button and then getting a "i'm sorry, the number you have called is not active...") Always time for some misspelling:
Levi's little known competitor... LOVI'S
I stopped by a KFC for some food. for some reason the KFCs in HK really suck, but the ones in China are good. Here's an interesting sight that is somewhat typical of China:
Question: How many KFC Staff does it take to man the counter at a KFC in China?
The answer:
and that's just this side. there were more registers on the other side of that column.
Actually its not uncommon in China to be at a restaurant where there's more people working there than eating there. :-o
There's something to be said for extremely cheap labor....
that's it for this trip! Hope you enjoyed it.
