Weird reverse wrap around glasses guys in Shenzhen

Last last week while across the border in Shenzhen on the subway. if I'm taking pictures of random people on the street or train, I try to obscure their identity by pixelating their faces. ( like this time when I blogged about the guy with the weird ear-clip headphones)  In this case I wanted to blog about the glasses I saw these guys wearing, so I think I can't...You can't really can see from this picture, but these two guys were wearing the most bizarre eye glasses I have seen.  Notice how big the piece is above the guy's nose on the right?  Rather than being a frame resting on your nose that is holding the lenses, and which has two earpieces to keep it on your face,  these glasses were the opposite.  They were made from a U-shaped piece of plastic that goes around the back of your head. a single piece wraps around from one side to the other.in other words, they opened up in the front, at the nose piece!  Very strange.  I saw one guy put them on (basically pull them apart at the nose piece and then put them on around the back of his head), I was confused and perplexed, then when I saw his friend get his pair out and do the same I was freaked out... has someone replaced the thousand year old concept of glasses as we know it with a new superior type while I wasn't looking?(call me a luddite, but I'll keep putting my glasses on face first than you very much). :-P
