Umbrella Covers...

Sorry,  we were out late last night hanging with Bruce Lee,  so i couldn't blog last night. :-( 

But to hold you over until i get home from work tonight,  here's some links to some Youtube videos I was talking with people about last night...

I think its really awesome to take a well known song and make a new version...  the EASY way to do that is to make a 'techno-dance' version of a popular song...

the harder way is to take something and go off in a new direction... which is why I've always been a fan of 'Unplugged' and shows like that where artists reinterpret or rearrange their songs.    Covers of other artists works are also another good way to find something new... a good example of one that is more than just copying is say something like 'Smooth Criminal' by Michael Jackson and then redone by Alien Ant Farm...

So I was pretty pleasantly suprised when i found two really cool covers of Rihanna's 'Umbrella' while I was clicking around on Youtube...  First is the indie rock version by 'Vanilla Sky':
