Torch Relay.... protest!

ok, i got to the office from the olympic torch relay a few minutes ago very confused...

All I saw was a bunch of people yelling and jeering some pro-democracy protesters in front of the MTR entrance at Kowloon Park... this went on for like 45 minutes!

Either one of two things happened:

1) I got to there too late and the torch passed by... and then people stayed for 45 minutes watching the protesters and counter protesters yell at eachother.

2) they canceled this leg of the relay (because of the protests?) the police made some announcements in cantonese, but obviously my cantonese is not good enough to figure out what they said.    [Amazingly enough,  the answer is #1! ]

Anyway, here's some pictures, with some unedited video at the bottom!

Since I don't know exactly what was going on here either, there's not much need for narration, the pictures are pretty clear:

they had a team of female officers form a human chain around the protesters to protect them. (i wonder if they male officers refuse to do this because its too touchy feely for them...)

they brought in more barriers to separate the protester from the crowd.

police eventually led them away to a truck...
