The conference I am at is pretty expensive as far as these things go, registration is US$500 per person, luckily for me I was able to get the university to pay for it before my contract ended. Some conferences are this expensive or more, but don't include any food, fortunately this one is quite decent as far as meals go...
This was our lunch on Thursday. It was a fixed menu, the other days they had a pretty good buffet.
This is one of the ballrooms, pretty swanky...
Again the afternoon sessions didn't look too exciting, so my former labmate and I snuck out again to look around... Next to the conference hotel is this famous Singapore landmark:
Throwback to the colonial days...
Walked down to the 'Largest Street Market in Singapore'...
Living in HK, being so close to Shenzhen and 'The world's factory' in Southern China, I am not really impressed by these types of markets anymore. I've seen them in Bangkok, Saigon, Taipei, etc... but nowadays I feel no compulsion to buy anything... so jaded!
This was the only thing really worth taking a picture of.
OK, thats it for now, I have to edit some video before I can post up the conference awards banquet pics...
