Here's the view from the Hotel that our conference is in... as its US$200+ a night I chose to search for more reasonable accommodations, but my former labmate managed to get a room on the 52nd floor. quite good:
and here's a video:

We snuck out of the conference yesterday afternoon and took the subway to several of the areas that were listed as tourist attractions - 'Little India' and 'Chinatown'... hate to say it, but they weren't particularly impressive (maybe because I live in 'Chinatown'...).
Little India... not sure if you can see it, but there's a giant golden cobra or two in this store's display case. Who exactly buys a giant golden cobra?
Its quite hot here... like ~32C, and it was quite sunny this day...
At night my former labmate and I headed over to the Esplanade, which is the performing arts center downtown near the conference hotel:
Its also known as 'The Durian' because it looks like two Durians halves...
One half is a concert hall and the other half is a theater.
On the back side is the Singapore River. The waterfront view is not bad.
I think my casio would have taken this better... but not too bad, too bad i didn't have my tripod with me.
OK, time for bed, tomorrow i have to give my talk. I just finished my slides. :-P
