Yesterday under the shadow of Hong Kong's IFC, Redbull made history again. Proving that last year's Flugtag wasn't a fluke, Red Bull again managed to pull of one of the biggest privately organized public events I've seen in Hong Kong.
This time it wasn't homebuilt airplanes, it was all about motorsports, specifically F1!
They bought one of their spare F1 cars to Hong Kong to do a demonstration on a public street here in Central. In addition they also had a team of stunt bike riders and drifters.
Here's some of my pics:
Team of Lotus race cars came out first.
Actually taking pictures of the crowd and scenery was half of the fun.
This area is where the Star Ferry and Queen's Pier used to be, it was filled in just a few years ago. They're still doing a lot of construction nearby and the workers also took in the event.
Wanchai Convention Center in the distance.
The People's Liberation Army's HK headquarters is right near the East end of the roadway.
I'm guessing that's the barracks building. Yes, the Chinese army enjoyed the event too!
The ladies of the PLA on the top floor. :-P
And finally the F1 car comes out.

It was actually pretty hard for me to get a decent picture! I need to study up on high speed photography. :-P
Event MC Brian Burrell!
Drifters again. Its hard to get drifting on film actually... I should have done video... :-P
Here they are back in the pits.
Daniel and Rex on the job! Congrats to the Red Bull Hong Kong team!
After the final F1 demo run they did a few spin outs in the center and parked the car there. I wonder if Redbull has to pay the HK roads department to clean up all the skid marks they left on the streets. :-P
Bonus shot for Dodge -
Raven Hanson was there doing some TV coverage.
