Red Bull Go-Kart Racing

On Friday night the CBFresh boys and I took a bus out past distant Tuen Mun to attend a Red Bull event being held at the Diamond Coast Go Kart track.  It was for a car magazine I was not familiar with.  I dunno, I was just there for go-kart driving! :-D This place is so distant you can pick up Mainland China cell phone signals stronger than the HK network.  ( i actually biked past this place twice back in the spring).I should ask Marco if they let him keep the car on weekends... :-Phere's CBFresh trying to figure when they'd get a chance to go for the gold... here's the first round getting ready to start.  (my camera screwed up the file or something,  but the top half is ok).  we watched from the balcony on a structure made out of old cargo containers...  interesting recycling ideas...before you race, you gotta get a ninja mask..  Caged heat... Caged heat w/ Red Bull....  when it was finally our time to race, we headed out to the track.... this was actually another race's action pic.  I was too busy driving to take photos during our race. :-P  I think these were 200cc go-karts,  they definitely got moving in the straightaways and could spin out easily if you weren't careful.  I was doing OK for a while, I managed to avoid a lot of the pile ups (many of which were caused by Vince.. at least according to Rob).    but on two occasions when I slowed in a caution zone to avoid hitting a stalled car someone came up from behind w/o slowing down and rammed my car off the track.  Doh! :-(But I did have a few pretty good laps between the crashes....   but alas the winner was not me -i'm not sure if its worth zooming in, but amazingly I DID have the fastest lap time of everyone...  between my stalls I was actually doing OK.  :-PYes,  Simon took the gold,  and decided to celebrate by taking his shirt off... for no apparent reason.  (at least its more than a diaper). It was my first time witnessing this up close,  but apparently the CBFresh guys have strange hobbies...  in this case the guy who got the worst overall time (who's dignity will be maintained by not mentioning his name)  had to submit themselves for spankings by the rest of the people...  and of course we stopped for photos:Rob about to lay the smackdown... Vince goes for the rising uppercut ( 風神拳 ) to the backside...   aftermath...   i think his fist did not actually penetrate... but I can't be sure.  bonus pic:yes, Murakami is a genius!
