Poker - clawing my way back...

I've got another blog entry about last night in the pipeline (aka sitting in my 'drafts' folder), but let me do this one first since KB mentioned it in his blog already.

We played down in Hong Hom... which was convenient for me (for once!)  The first game Bob had more of his demon luck and I was out relatively early,  i think i got 4th or so.

Second game looked like it was going to go badly too.  Bob almost took out me and KB out on a hand he should not have been playing! (who plays an unsuited 2-7!?!)    I lost everything except my last 36 points!  But I slowly (very slowly)  clawed my way back out of danger with a little bit of luck.  KB had to rebuy and eventually it came down to him vs me head to head.  It went back and forth for a while but eventually his pocket pair beat my pocket pair and he took the game.

I only took one picture, which was another interesting hand:

Basically all five cards in the center were clubs, so no matter what there's a flush.  A and I both had kings, so we had a pair of kings,  demon bob was the only one with a club, but thank god he only had a 2 of clubs, so it was a three way draw and we all took our money back (any other club would have won outright).

I tried to calculate the odds of having all 5 cards in the center come out to be of the same suit,  i think its: 13/52 x 12/51 x 11/50 x 10/49 x 9/48.  Which is about a  1 in 2000 chance.  not impossible, but pretty rare. :-P

Anyway,  this is the 2nd week I've managed to get a 2nd place in one of the games.  Not as good as my previous winning streak, but its better than pat and stephen can claim! :-P

ps - yes playing on a clear glass table is probably not a good idea! ;-)
