If you like HK style comedies (modest budget, simple plot, cheap laughs), "Short of Love" (矮仔多情) shouldn't disappoint.
Wong Cholam (王祖藍) does a pretty good job as a businessman who unsuccessfully to go after a string of beautiful women (played by Race Wong (黃婉伶), JJ (賈曉晨) and Kate Tsui (徐子珊), all the while running into the mysterious yet sagely 'Angel' around town (so I guess he's going after 4 girls really). And his secretary, played by Ella Koon (官恩娜) makes it five!
Actually this movie is really three short vignettes bookended with scenes from a fourth... each one about Wong trying very hard to get the girl. All three of the actresses do well in their parts as well.
Race plays a dancer with multiple personality disorder, ballet teacher by day, psychotic exotic dancer by night. Its understandable why that doesn't work out. :-P
JJ plays a 'heart of gold' innocent beauty from the Mainland who works at a spa in HK. Cholam impersonates a blind masseuse to infiltrate the company and try to work it on her.
The old 'blind man in the bath trick'... that's a time tested technique. :-P
The third part, featuring Kate Tsui was entirely a parody of the 1990 HK film 'Moment of Romance' (天若有情), Andy Lau's often copied classic, directed by Benny Chan and featuring Wu Chien Lien in her award winning debut performance.
I would say if you are going to go see this movie, definitely watch 'A Moment of Romance' first, otherwise you won't necessarily enjoy this part as much. :-P
Lynn Hsiung (熊黛林) has a cameo in the film as well. I've seen her at a few red carpets, she really is that tall (and he really is not very tall).
Last but not least:
I had a dream just like this... except without the wedding dresses. :-P
Its a fun movie, no deep meanings or complicated plot. I'll give it a 7/10. ;-)
