HK Scuba, now with Photos!

I flew back from Singapore early Saturday morning,  it was 10:45am by the time I got on Airport Express.  Once I got home I grabbed my scuba gear and headed out to Saikung(西貢). We had another scuba trip lined up!

Same boat as the previous trips. The important thing this time was using my new underwater camera case!

Here I am testing the case in a freshwater tank.  Before you load the camera and take it underwater you're recommended to take just the empty case down and test it out to make sure it doesn't have any leaks.  A wise idea!

Here's Eric and Stephen coming back from the first dive.

We stopped for moon cake and birthday cake before heading back for our second dive...

OK!

As you may recall from my previous blogs, its pretty murky in some places here in HK.  it seems hit or miss with respect to visibility...

On the bottom I found an old bottle.  I flipped it over to reveal some creepy tiny starfish or something.

Here's a close-up:

yuck!

This was the first time for me to try and take pictures underwater.  I definitely need more practice:

It was hard to get a good picture of the fish as they darted in and out of the reefs. I got a lot of pictures like this where you can't actually find any fish...

This was one of the better ones.  I have lots of bad ones. :-P

This was probably the best one... Close-up on the right.

Stephen swimming near some soft coral.  And thats a Sea Cucumber, in case you wanted to see what one looked like.

I saw a lot of crabs hiding under the rocks:

In this case its easy to stick the camera down in their faces to get a picture though.

This is a Blue Swimming Crab  apparently.  I think it might have been dead, cause it didn't move AT ALL the whole time we were swimming around.

It was getting dark towards the end,  too dark to take good pictures of eachother.  Because of the junk in the water,  the flash didn't work on these far away shots at all. :-(

Back on the surface!  As you can see, it was late... next time birthday cake after diving!

no, not every weekend... but if you include the boat trips, it ends up being almost every weekend there's something water related. (for me at least).
