Hawaii Part 4b: Scuba 1 - now w/ extra gross-out!

On Sunday a bunch of us (12 in all) took a scuba diving trip.  9 of us were licensed divers and three other friends came along to do an intro lesson dive. Frequent Etchy blog readers will recall that I've been going diving quite a bit this past few months.  Four of us from AnD got our licenses in HK in August specifically to prepare for our Hawaii trip...  and I also got my underwater camera case too,  so needless to say I was really looking forward to the trip.

日曜日僕たちハワイでスキューバダイビングをした。僕は最近ダイビングの面鏡を取った、それからハワイのスキューバとても生きたかった！全部12人友達一緒行った。3人始めてのダイビングした。その時僕達２回ダイビングした、このブログはじめ回だけ！この回’Baby Barge’で潜た。深度は～20-25ｍぐらいです。

We did two dives in two different locations. the first one was called 'Baby Barge',  which is a sunken barge off shore that has some interesting sealife swimming around it.  Since its about 80 feet+ to the bottom, only the licensed divers could try this one, and two of us decided to wait for the later dive.

The boat was quite small actually,  we were all bumping into each other all the time, especially once we got suited up.

Above the barge we tied up and got ready. After I jumped in and was swimming to the anchor line in the front of the boat,  I stuck my head underwater and was amazed at how frickin' clear it was - I could see all the way to the bottom!   Compared to the 10'- 15' visibility you get in HK, it was really /mind bottling/ !!!

As you can see the barge (which has been sunk here for like 10+ years) is covered w/ coral and what not, and of course lots of fish swimming around.

Nearby there were rocky areas... as we swam around we were amazed to see who was hanging out down there:

Holy smokes!  look at the size of those things!  亀！大だったょ！

They were just sitting there watching us and every once in a while one would go up to the surface for some air.

Because of the depth, some of the guys were running short on air so we had to start for the surface before we could head over to a nearby area where they say sharks are often spotted. doh! :-P

Back up on the surface the intro guys were getting checked out,  we took off our tanks and headed over to the next dive site.  Unfortunately the water was pretty rough and a few people were not feeling well from the depth of the dive...  as soon as we tied up someone asked the captain 'uh,  if I have to throw up, where is the best place to do it?'  after being told 'the back of the boat' -- the sick diver did exactly that.   Yuck... but grosser than that was when a bunch of fish came up to the surface to sample the delicious pre-digested meal that they had been offered...

You should be able to see the black fish that quickly came to the surface...  the brown clouds are... Whopper Jr!

吐き出た後、黒魚一杯来た！速くそのものを食べた！怖い！もすぐ次の人も吐き出た！でも彼は水の中。怖い！

Worse yet, a second diver was also feeling sick,  he tried to get into the water to avoid the rocking on the boat,  but this resulted in something even worse...

vomiting IN the water... he was quickly surrounded by a frenzy of fish too... double yuck! :-P
