As I mentioned, I flew in to SFO and took the BART to Berkeley:

Maybe its just me... I've been riding a lot of sparkling clean Japanese and HK trains for the past few years,  but the inside of the BART trains are REALLY going to shit!  filthy stained carpet and seats...  are these original 1972 vintage!?  I was in shock,  i wanted to lay newspaper down on the seat before I sat down.  BART has to get its act together and start cleaning these things up. its also SUPER noisy compared to what I'm used to... what the hell!

My culture shock continued.  Unadon picked me up at the N. Berkeley station and we went to get some lunch.  Its my first time in Berkeley in almost 2 years...

OK, McDonalds is still there...  Thats Unadon trying to negotiate with the Parking SS...

I was disappointed to find out that my first meal back in the US was not going to be Taco Bell...We tried to go to the downown Berkeley Taco bell (across the street from the offices of the company before the company before Alivenotdead.com).

This Taco Bell.... where I spent many a fond afternoon (and saw a few drunken frat boys and angry customer confrontations)  was now long closed. No!!! All those memories of getting my Star Wars Special Edition Taco Bell toys...  bottomless Mt. Dew...  gone. :-P

As an alternative we went to 'The Original Mel's'  nearby.and I opted for the waffles.  ;-)

One thing I enjoy about being back in the US (and California specifically) is the variety of vintage cars.  these two were just a few that I managed to get on camera as we were driving around:

  Yes,  many a Transporter!  I think I saw like 5 in one afternooon (this one is a pick-up truck variety).

I helped Unadon get her Uhaul truck and move some furniture in preparation for her new job in Sac.  And once eric was back from work,  Unadon dropped me off.

Still dejected from my failure to go to Taco Bell,  we settled on Chevy's instead, in the picturesque Emeryville Marina:

Ay Caramba! Muy grande!  My stomach can't handle these American sized portions!
