ok, catching up more on my current trip to the US:
Friday - I was still trying to get over my jet lag, but Eyeh had the day off work.
The plan was to head to Costco in the afternoon. But there were some things that had to be handled before departure:
Eyeh had to feed the baby before leaving. Apparently you can't feed $1.50 hot dog + free refill Coke to a baby...
I miss Costco... i haven't been able to go since I left Japan... and of course the US one is even more wonderful. Eyeh went nuts on the purchasing. We're doing a BBQ for the 4th so he bought a lot of the stuff now. The cart was filled to the brim!
There's Mr. Mom unloading the cart (while I'm in line for the chicken bake and pizza!)
I forgot to take a picture of the meal, but baby-Eyeh was kind enough to reproduce the scene for us graphically:
On the way back home I tried snapping a pic of the cool fog rolling in on the bay. Thats the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge sticking out of the fog, with Alcatraz in front.
Baby Eyeh gets to watch everything via her parabolic mirror - just like a Mercury astronaut...
Later that day we took her out for a walk and bumped into none other than bsug, aka DJ BAM, aka the Orange Crush:
who now lives right up the street. Invitations were extended for dinner...
But first the walking tour of Emeryville:
子供と散歩した:
Nice to know my property taxes are being put to good use.... actually we did a nice loop of the hollis street area (places I have maybe driven through but never walked before). Its nice to see the old warehouse buildings getting renovated or replaced.
One interesting site we came across was this:
The dumpsters in the parking lot of Semifreedi's bakery were overflowing with yesterday's leftovers... kind of a waste! They had a lot of rat traps out around there, but those do nothing to stop the determined squirrels (and birds).
Mrs. Eyeh came back from work and Eyeh began preparing for a feast to break in his new BBQ before the 4th of July. Mrs Eyeh and I took the opportunity to visit Bsug's new home:
A pretty nice place. It all seems odd to me now, as I've been conditioned on high rise apartment uber-plexes since moving to HK... and two years of japanese pre-fab closet apartments for two years before that. (but more on this tomorrow).
One of the highlights of this was seing Bsug's Jedi picture again. I tried to capture it using my camera's auto-correction feature. I hope he doesn't mind me reproducing it here:
He should get wallet sized prints made, write his phone number on them and hand them out to girls at Sci Fi and comic book conventions...
Burntowl came by and it was time for the roasting of the meats:
最後はBBQした。Eyeh君は焼きました:
