24 Herbs MV Shoot

OK, several people have already blogged about it already,  but on Tuesday Night we helped out with 24 Herb's MV shoot ( here's their blog about it).  The venue, Yumla, was donated by Dan F and director extraordinare Alex O. Smith was given a 35mm camera, a couple fancy anamorphic lenses, a budget for free beer and a few dozen rowdy volunteers.

火曜日夜友達のバンド’24味’はMVを撮ったから、僕達お手伝いした。Yumlaのバーでした。Alex Smithは映画監督した。彼はたくさん有名なMVした事が有る。あまり物ない：カメラ、バー、人。。。長いけど、面白かった。

For the better part of 6 hours, we were doing a lot of this:

Hey! Ho! Hey! Ho!

Actually we also did a lot of waiting while they set up various shots...  In this case a bunch of us standing around GS for his solo part...    for each part we did about 5 or 6 takes... some at regular speed and a few at double speed believe it or not.  hypothetically it should look cool when you slow it down to normal speed... we're in time with the music (hypothetically), but gravity and the rest of the rules of time and space work at 1/2 the speed of normal...

Here's Alex doing some handheld work with the camera.  you can see just how big and heavy that thing was!   

Here's my 15 seconds of fame...  actually i probably won't be in this shot, i was too far off to the side this time,  later on in the song i should be much more visible!　僕は。ヒープ・ホープ

(I want to see what kind of magic Alex can pull of out of his hat on this one...  it was really amazing to see how this whole thing was set up...)

One cool thing were the cameos... in addition to a few AnD artists,  we also had Roy Cheung... who I just randomly happened to have seen on TV the night before in Stephen Chow classic film: ' Fight Back to School'.  Andrew was nice enough to introduce us later in the evening, but 'Big Ted' wasn't impressed that I had just seen his 16 year old movie on TV...

Happy Birthday to Ryan!　　今日ライアン君の誕生日でした。

After a few breaks and falls finishes, we finally film the finale!  Alex used the last roll of film on a drunken orgy of beer guzzling... and next thing you know we're done.
