Directors

Other than work with 24Herbs, I have been busy working on a short film for a director called Tony Shyu. He shoot a short film staring Jason Tobin. Its called "Macau Twilight" and he managed to get it to a few festivals which is great. I hope he can make it into a full length feature. I have also been working on a lot of commercial projects for people like Standard Charter Bank, Oral B, SKII, 7-Up, Pepsi, McDonald's. Its really fun for me as I get to work with a lot of film directors and it is always interesting no matter how big/small the job. I recently worked on a job with a director called Michael Fitzmaurice, whom you have probably never heard of as I had not either. I was informed that he is quite a famous hollywood director. I chatted to him quite a few times before meeting him and we got on quite well. It turns out that he is a famous DOP (director of photography) and he works with the top hollywood directors. I was told he worked on recent Fantastic Four film so I decided to check out his credits. Which includes working with David Fincher on "Zodiac", Christopher Nolan on "Batman Begin's", apparently he shot all the car chases, Brett Rather on  "X Men 3", "Mr & Mrs Smith", "The Italian Job", etc. He had also been DOP for all the early Nike Jordan TVCs, and commercials for all the great cars like Merc Benz, BMW, Audi, Alfa Romeo.

I was like, wow !! You da man !! We spent a few days together working on a TVC as he was hired as the director. And since Tiger Woods was in the ad, they needed a director with some weight. I learnt a lot from him and he was the nicest guy ever. Totally down to earth and easy to talk to. Demanding yet not a control freak. I like to work with people like that cause I always learn something from them and its always a good experience.
