the boy who couldnt stop – progress

here is the process of my work

when i am comparing the differences between drawing and the painting, i remember that the story has also evolved into something different. the drawing is about manifestation of thought, and that thought becomes its own entity. the painting is a narration of another story.

the painting is called the boy who couldnt stop. using a story my friend provided, i constructed a faux fairytale.

the story is about a chicken who was picked on by the pigs, snakes, rats, and other forest monsters. the chicken wanted a new body to seek revenge in, so he made a deal with a demon in the form of a black scorpion. the demon promised the chicken a new form in exchange for his soul. the chicken reached in his chest and produced his soul, and then the demon lit the chicken on fire. midst the flames, the chicken rose as a phoenix. the then chicken now phoenix has become the most powerful being in the forest, but also the hungriest. to fill the empty cavity which once bore his soul, the phoenix fills his hunger with deer heart, but the more he consumed, the hungrier he got. as his empty cavity grew, so did the phoenix, who’s flames have died out and his body had transformed into a black, volcanic mess.

the painting is a portrait of the chicken or the boy who couldn’t stop devouring hearts.

he continues to lure deer  towards him for consumption.
