last weekend was kennedy’s first birthday, which, true to form, means last minute shopping. while i was cleaning the garage, however, i stumbled on a chair i found two years ago. in true-hoarder fashion, i’ve kept it around because i’ve always wanted to paint it! as soon as i rediscovered the chair, i knew i would paint it for kennedy - kind of cool, in a way it was destined to be hers below is a sample of what the chair looked like (the precise model doesn’t exist anymore, but this is pretty close) initially it was white, but i sanded it down in order to prep for paint.
and this is the photo from kennedy’s invitation:
given it was finished within a twenty-four hour period, i think i did well!
i wanted to keep a theme - kennedy’s petting zoo, plus giraffe…and apple trees (for when kennedy or the animals get hungry……haha.)
(this project became important to me because it also made me reconsider my painting style -
so i still have a lot to think about! in a good way, of course.)
i figured the chair was a nice keepsake kennedy - i love personalized gifts, and i thought it would be special for kennedy’s first. though, i was a little hesitant in the gift because i thought the chair itself was so random … but her parents loved it, and im sure kennedy will appreciate it as she grows up - so, yay!
me and the tot when we first met - i call her ‘lima bean’ because she looked like one in her little onesie!
happy birthday, little bean!
