I was recently approached to write a couple of biographies and I chose to write about Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr. As we remember Dr. King's legacy in the anniversary of his tragic murder, I can't escape the universal resonance of his quest for equality. A struggle that not only improved conditions for our African-American brothers and sisters but that inspired all those fighting bigotry and discrimination, these two scourges of society which, sadly, still burden us today.
Here's a couple of videos from the 9500 Liberty Documentary series illustrating these problems today, as they apply to the controversial issue of immigration. (these videos come from Eric and Annabel who helped bring you the "Si se Puede Cambiar" video)
"You gotta fight for your right, but you gotta fight with peace, use your heart and your mind". Michael Betts, Manassas VA
Yesterday, on Cesar Chavez's birthday, presidential front-runner Barack Obama endorsed the plan to make the birthday of the labor organizer and civil rights leader a national holiday. "Si, Se Puede!"
Congressman Dennis Kucinich and Marcy Kaptur endorsed the plan as well.
